元宵节，用英语怎么说呢？

千万不要说yuan xiao jie！

而是 Lantern Festival！

因为元宵节也叫灯节~

农历的一个月被称作“元月”。然后在古代中国，夜晚被称作“宵”。

因此当第一个月圆之夜到来的时候，这个晚上就被称作了“元宵”~

The first month of the lunar calendar is known as the 元月(yuan yue). 

And in ancient China, the night was referred to as 宵 (xiao).

 So when the first full moon rolls around, this night is accordingly known as 元宵。

元宵节习俗

如果赏灯者猜出谜语，就将纸条取出，然后找灯笼所有者确认答案。

答对的话，可以领取一份小礼品。这个活动起源于北宋(960—1279)。

北宋时期城市文化发达。开封城的元宵节猜灯谜活动尤为热闹~

"Guessing lantern riddles"is an essential part of the Festival. 

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the lanterns. 

If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out and go to the lantern owners to check their answer.

 If they are right, they will get a little gift.

 The activity emerged during people's enjoyment of lanterns in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). 

Urban culture developed in the Northern Song Dynasty.

The Lantern Festival activities in kaifeng city are especially lively.
